Local Leagues Cricket 2007 Season

The Local Leagues Cricket 2007 season featured 8 teams from Birmingham, Coventry, Walsall and Wolverhampton. Matches commenced at 2pm and ended at 8pm.
Matches were fiercely competitive and contested over 40 overs with a limit of 8 overs per bowler.Teams played each other both Home and Away in the league Pak Shaheen C.C,
Local Leagues C.C, Mushy Tigers C.C, Azad Sports C.C, M & T C.C, Calthorpe C.C, City Strikers C.C and Wolverhampton Exclusive all fought it out in the Sunday League.
Some fabulous stroke play saw Mushy Tigers C.C as eventual winners of the League with Wolverhampton Exclusive C.C walking away with the Plate and Calthorpe C.C the Twenty Twenty Cup.

The 15 overs aside Midweek League consisted of Azad Sports C.C, Calthorpe C.C, MCDT C.C, Nine Lives, Phoenix C.C and Redditch Stars C.C. Games started at 6 pm and finished between 8 and 8.30 pm with each bowler allowed a maximum of 3 Overs
Calthorpe C.C played some amazing cricket and were worthy winners in the end.
The presentation night was held at the Birmingham Sports Centre and hosted by Mazar Dad Mohammed Shafique and Zhor Malik. The main Guests were MPRoger Godsiff
along with Warwickshire County C.C playerTahir Naqaash, Birmingham Sports Centre Manager Barry Rashid and several Local Community Activists including Moahmmed Azim, Zulfiqar Ali and Mohammed Saeed.

There was also a presentation for a Local Leagues player, Shozair Ali, who was selected to play in the Warwickshire Academy.

The presentation night was very well attended with several new teams showing an interest in playing in the 2008 season. Feedback on the Cricket League has been good with people stating how professionally the league was run along with positive comments about the website which contains information on all the League’s teams, grounds along with a fixtures and results service.

Results of all matches are printed in the Birmingham Post, Birmingham Mail and also the Express and Star Newspapers.
