Local Leagues Academy Report

The vast amount of young sporting talent in inner city Birmingham is being recognised by Local Leagues through its Football Academy.

The Local Leagues Football Academy is open to youngsters in the following age groups: U10, U12, U15. All the training sessions are held at Calthorpe Park in Balsall Heath. Training is on Wednesdays and Saturdays with league matches on Sundays. The Academy is proving to be a great success with several players being snapped up by professional Football clubs such as Birmingham City and West Bromwich Albion.

The Local Leagues Academy has really taken off this year with over 100 young people signing up. Also several young community volunteers have given up their time on the weekends to assist our coaches in the delivery of the Academy. These volunteers first came into contact with Local Leagues as participants and have grown up with the organisation on their doorsteps and are now giving something back to their community.

The three teams compete in the Warwickshire Central FA League and play against a range of different teams from a variety of different communities within the Birmingham area.
