Sparkhill Park Cricket Tournament 2007
8th September 2007 - Sparkhill Park MUGA.
Five teams entered the annual open age Sparkhill Park 6-aside Cricket Tournament 2007. Overall the standard of play was very high with a number of teams catching the eye during the group stages including youngsters ‘Shakespeare’ who made it all the way to the final. The final was a tense affair between ‘Shakespeare’ and ‘Nizam Victory’. ‘Nizam Victory’ eventually came away as worthy winners of the Sparkhill Park Cricket Tournament 2007. The tournament was as always fiercely competitive but all the teams played fairly and with a good spirit.
Possible stars of the future? Youngsters ‘Shakespeare’ defied their age to make it all the way to the final and finished ‘Runners Up’ in 2007.
We were lucky with the weather meaning that conditions were perfect for Cricket. Local Leagues staff ran the day with a number of volunteers helping out. Plenty of refreshments were kindly supplied by Naeem Qureshi and the day climaxed with an Awards Ceremony during which medals and trophies were handed out.
The cricket on show was of a high standard with ‘Nizam Victory’ winning the Sparkhill Park Cricket Tournament 2007. We hope to see all the teams that competed in 2007 back in 2008 and of course ‘Nizam Victory’ to defend their title!
