Friday School Football League 2007
8th June – 13th July 2007 - Calthorpe Park.
Every Friday a group of staff went over to the park and marked out 3 pitches. The league was open to all the schools, with each schools being invited to submit a team of up to 10 players of girls or boys. Over 60 children took part in the event.
Fixtures were done so each team played 2 matches every Friday. Due to weather conditions some matches had to be rescheduled which meant that some teams had to play 3 matches in some weeks.
The league ended on the 13th of July. The day was planned so all the children were acknowledged and recognised for their participation in the event.

- Moseley COE won the Schools’ League (pictured with the winners Shield);
- Clifton were the runners up;
- Anderton Park School was awarded the Fair Play Award;
- Owen Lamprey was presented with the Manager’s Award for his contribution to the whole league and doing his best to promote Fair Play amongst all the teams.
A match was also organised between the ‘Winners’ and ‘Birmingham Schools United’. The latter team was made up of players of all the remaining teams. Children and staff were really looking forward to this grand finale match. Many more parents turned up to watch this friendly match. Unfortunately, due to weather conditions this match had to be cancelled.
It was a fantastic 6 weeks and staff as well as the children thoroughly enjoyed it.
We had great interest from many schools in Birmingham who wanted to take part in the event but were unable to do so as they did not have their own transport. It might be an idea in the coming years if adequate funding was available to arrange transport for schools furthest away from the venue, making the league an even bigger and better event.
