Family Fun Day 2007 Report
24th August 2007 - Calthorpe Park 10am – 3pm
The main aim of the day was to round off our Fit 4 Summer programme by providing a fun day for all the family on the last day of the programme.
Our secondary objective was to provide a range of different activities that could be enjoyed by both young and old; male and female. This consisted of a mixture of fun games (e.g. egg and spoon races), inflatable activities including a bouncy castle, bungee run, human table football and giant sumo wrestling as well as 5 a-side football and face painting.
As a pilot event it has been very useful for extracting information about the demographic of people who attended and also for providing us with an evaluation of Local Leagues’ publicity and marketing strategy. All the participants enjoyed the day and the feedback has been great

Highlights
- Every participant was given a membership card for the day upon completion of their registration form and payment at the registration desk;
- Transport was provided at no extra cost for those coming from the Sparkhill / Sparkbrook areas;
- Entry was 50p per person, face painting was the only chargeable activity at 50p, bottled water (50p) and cereal bars (30p) were sold on the day.
The event was also used to collate data on the effectiveness of Local Leagues’ publicity strategy. 35% of the participants heard about the Family Fun Day through our door-to-door flyers, posters contributed (30%) and word-of-mouth contributed 28%.
With the appropriate funding, the implementation of an expanded marketing and publicity strategy and lessons learned from this year’s pilot event – we can organise and deliver a Fun Day on a much larger scale next year with bigger and better attractions and activities on offer together with many more participants!
