Reports
Easter 2006
(10th April – 21st April 2006)
During the 2-week Easter holiday period at Calthorpe Park, sessions were run every day for a minimum of 2 hours between 11.00am - 1.00pm.
A coach service was arranged to pick up children from four different parks from within inner city Birmingham to be brought to Calthorpe Park for the purpose of wider participation. The bus timetable is displayed:
During the week, a range of different sporting activities were offered to include football, cricket, softball, tag rugby, etc., with all sessions being supervised by at least four members of Local Leagues staff. The terrible weather for most of the holiday, left children unsure whether the sessions were on or off, which in turn resulted in poor attendance.
Highlights
- The first Thursday saw 17 children taking part in a mini tournament on the grass, a very muddy but highly enjoyable day. The weather picked up on the 2nd Tuesday and we saw 24 children playing football and softball in the park.
- The weather didn’t hold for long, affecting participation for the rest of the week, the children got to play a rather muddy game of tag rugby on the
Thursday.
They seemed to thoroughly enjoy this with many of them asking us to start doing tag rugby on a regular basis.
A breakdown of participants and attendance is given below:

Total number of beneficiaries for the two weeks: 36
Total number of hours of activity during the two weeks: 100 hrs
