Summary

With a range of different sporting activities offered during the five weeks (including football, cricket, softball, hockey, athletics, etc.). 7 members of Local Leagues coaching staff were responsible for supervising the sessions.
Feedback from the Easter activities enabled us to target our publicity more effectively making a huge impact with our advertising for the summer activities. The publicity really paid off and the response from the advertising prior to the start of the summer activities was amazing. The demand for the activities was so great that on the first day we had to turn people away as there just wasn’t enough room on the bus.
It was unfortunate having to turn the young people away, however, the positive side of this was that fortunately most of those we turned away were from the Sparkhill Park and Farm Park areas and therefore we could offer them sessions in their own parks twice a week and put them on the reserve list for the Calthorpe Park sessions. This meant that nobody lost out.
The numbers did vary quite a bit over the five weeks due to a number of factors, again weather being the main one as all activities took place outdoors and therefore Mother Nature dictated some of our activities.
Most Friday’s saw a low turn out due to it being a day of prayer for most of the participants and therefore the activities clashing with Mosque times. The turn out was nevertheless still significant enough to run the sessions.
