Career Progression


Funding was secured to provide information, advice, and guidance to be delivered to beneficiaries within the Sparkbrook and Sparkhill areas.
The information, advice, and guidance were centred around two main projects and were aimed at beneficiaries meeting certain criteria’s. Depending on the criteria met decided which of the programmes the beneficiaries were most suited to and placed to meet their needs.

LSC (Local & Skills Council)

The LSC project targeted 16 – 18 year olds within the Sparkbrook and Sparkhill areas. The programme is (currently on-going) aimed at engaging beneficiaries that were not in employment, education or training (NEET) and helping them progress into either employment, education, or training using the following:

Enterprising Communities

The Enterprising Communities project is aimed at beneficiaries aged 18 years old and above that resided in the Sparkbrook and Sparkhill Ward.
The aim was to engage with beneficiaries who were not in employment, education and training (NEET) and support them back into one of the three. This was accomplished through advice and guidance, and through one-to-one support throughout the process.
The process involved three categories to be taken into consideration:
Assistance, Milestones & Outcomes.
Within these categories there were guidelines / actions that needed to be taken into account or carried when going through the advice and guidance process to give the beneficiaries a high chance of success in the path that they were pursuing:

Assistance

Advice and guidance on work issues;

Assessment of individual needs;

Individualised action plans;

Motivation and orientation information;

Pre-vocational training;

Key skills support;

Jobsearch assistance;

Help into self-employment;

Contribution towards wages;

Basic skills training / literacy / numeracy;

IT training;

Requirement of protective clothing;

Requirement of care / responsibilities for dependants;

Grants to individuals.
