Ackers
(29th August – 1st September 2006)
The aim for the last week of the holiday was to run a week long scheme within the grounds of the Ackers Sports Development. Flyers were circulated throughout the holidays and we expected a turnout of around 30 young people per session.
All the usual Local Leagues sporting activities were being offered, 4 members of Local Leagues coaching staff were at hand between 1.00pm and 3.pm to oversee the participants.
Ackers Highlights
The sessions saw good numbers considering it didn’t get as much promotion as some of the other schemes. Local Leagues coaching staff adapted and worked well with the other sports instructors based at Ackers and football proved to be the most popular sport with cricket also receiving good numbers.
There was an average attendance of 28 young people under the age of 16 at Ackers at the end of scheme at Ackers, all thoroughly enjoying the 4 days.
We are hopeful that the sessions at Ackers were start of a good relationship between Local Leagues and The Ackers Sports Development, and more importantly, between the local children as well. We intended to build on this and will therefore be in a position to hold more sessions at the site in the not too distant future.
Total number of beneficiaries registered for the five weeks: 39
Average number of participants per day: 28
Total number of hours of activity during the five weeks: 8 hrs
