FootBULL Tournament, Birmingham University
(Wednesday 8th June 2005)
The summer of 2005 was the second year of the now annual “FootBULL” tournament with this one being even bigger and better than the previous one.
FootBULL is a joint effort between Local Leagues and Birmingham University and the term FootBULL is made up of the two partner organisations initials (Birmingham University and Local Leagues). The tournament invites 12 schools from around Birmingham to come and take part in a fun tournament where they get to win prizes for their schools and are given the chance to look around the University itself which is an amazing campus.
The Sports Development Activities Co-Ordinator took the lead on this project in arranging the day and organising the schools. The day was funded from a number of different areas and this year it was agreed that Local Leagues would pay for the coach hire and pitch hire on the day.
Sparkhill Park Cricket Tournament
(Saturday 6th August 2005)
A cricket tournament was held at Sparkhill Park with 8 teams of 8 players each entering. We used local volunteers on the day which were a great help as our other Saturday football leagues were still running which had left us slightly short staffed.
We will revisit the rules for next year as the 2nd batting team was considered to be at a disadvantage.
