Reports
Conclusion
The report has demonstrated that Local Leagues has made great strides in delivering the aims and objectives of the organisation through the activities it delivers.
Local Leagues has enhanced a number of its existing provision and generated new business for the organisation in delivering new activities for our clients.
Key points identified within the report:
- Activities at Calthorpe Park has consolidated Local Leagues’ ability to deliver sustained activities through the implementation and usage of the Calthorpe Pavillion;
- The CSCS contract has demonstrated a key impact on local schools for the provision of sports and after schools activities;
- Conway Sports Hall – managed by Local Leagues – has also generated great presence in the central Sparkbrook area and has increased the provision of sport;
- Activities and other initiatives through the leagues and parks has shown sustainability and impact – clearly the partnership with the Police can promote Local Leagues more effectively;
- School led activities have continued and progress is being made;
- School holiday activities have increased with better planning and delivery of the activities – showing local set programmes ensure greater impact of services from within Sparkbrook and Sparkhill;
- Greater target within the 11-18 age group – working with local youth clubs and Youth Services has provided a presence for Local Leagues to enhance the service further;
- The Volunteer programme has provided the foundation for school based provision and proven very successful during this year. It has also strengthened the relationship with the local Universities and has consolidated that this provision is making a major impact on schools who consider Local Leagues activities a lifeline;
- There is more intervention from girls in led activities and has proven successful with the recruitment of female coaches;
- Working with voluntary organisation has been reduced compared to last year but this has led more qualitative led activities with existing organisations. This is apparent because of the implementation of Calthorpe and Conway and greater usage of Birmingham Sport Centre and Moseley Health and Fitness Centre;
- There has been a great impact on Healthy Lifestyle activities with the engagement of over 400 women during last year and testing out new approaches for the over 30’s men’s health and lifestyles activity, and the establishment of healthy lifestyles in schools.
There are also lessons to be learnt from last year’s delivery. It is clear that there are areas of work that need to be addressed. This is easily demonstrated through our recording systems as the report has shown key data is omitted because staff members have either not recorded or misplaced the information.
This has led to:
- Feedback and Evaluation on most activities to be relatively poor or omitted and does not reflect the real impact on activities delivered by Local Leagues;
- There is no demonstration or evidence on indirect impact on activities delivered by Local Leagues regarding partnership, opportunities created by intervention by Local Leagues activities, or what has the service achieved.
